MAYOR'S STATEMENT:

The Mayor, Councillors and Town Clerk of Presteigne and Norton Town Council are saddened by the passing of our Queen. She has been a wonderful Monarch and will be missed around the world as well as here in Presteigne and Norton and throughout the UK.

CHURCH SERVICES IN PRESTEIGNE: 

Sunday 11th September: Service: Following the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, there was a church service in the Presteigne Group of Parishes this Sunday, 11 September
11.00am.  This will be a Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for the Life of the Queen.  
 

The church will be open during the next few days for quiet contemplation and signing of a book of remembrance.

 

There was a short service to mark the Queen's death in St Andrew's Church at 8pm, 8th September, 2022.

 

FLOWERS: 

Floral tributes may be laid ar War Memorials across the County. In Presteigne this is in front of the Secondary School. Please do unwrap your flowers from any cellophane etc before laying.

 

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

To take place on Monday 19th September, 2022 at 11am at Westminster Abbey.

The Queen will lie in state for “four clear days” in Westminster Hall, arriving there on Wednesday until 6.30am on the morning of her funeral the following Monday, a senior palace official said.

The public will be able to file past to see the late monarch’s coffin. 

Following the State Funeral, the Coffin will travel in Procession from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch. From Wellington Arch, the Coffin will travel to Windsor and once there, the State Hearse will travel in Procession to St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle via the Long Walk. A Committal Service will then take place in St George's Chapel.
